Coaches

Coaching

Every athlete deserves a great coach.

A triathlon coach’s job is to help their athletes train smarter and harder in the three unique sports that make up the sport of triathlon. Coaches help athletes make better use of their training time, and will keep the athlete from getting complacent or comfortable with their training routines.

Coaching for triathlons tends to be a team effort as not all coaches are experts in all three sports. As a result, assistants or specialist coaches may also play a role in the coaching effort. Since triathlons are endurance sports, coaching make take place in person or from a distance, or a combination of the two.

How to become a certified coach

Triathlon Canada has a nationally and internationally accredited coaches program. The program has two stream, community and competition.  Community coaches work with age-groupers whilst competition coaches work with development and high performance athletes all the way to the Olympics.
