A triathlon coach’s job is to help their athletes train smarter and harder in the three unique sports that make up the triathlon. To train smarter, the coach will help the athlete make better use of their limited training time, and to train harder, the coach will keep the athlete from getting complacent or comfortable with their training routines.
Coaching for triathlons tends to be a team effort as not all coaches are experts in all three sports. As a result, assistants or specialist coaches may also play a role in the coaching effort. And, because triathlons are endurance sports, coaching make take place in person, by distance, or a combination of the two.
